School Entrance Ceremony 入学式らしい

4/6 Thanking our town is not so crowded, I took a walk as usual around the neighborhood.
我々の街は人が少ないことに感謝しながら、いつものように近所を散歩していた。

Several kids and their parents dressed up were found walking toward the elementary school in our town. I understood their school entrance ceremony will be held today.
子供とその親がおめかししてこの辺の小学校の方に向かって歩いているのをあちことで見かけた。今日が入学式なんだ。

Even though my heart was filled with the vague memory of my entrance ceremony for a moment, considering the current situation I could not celebrate them at all. Rather, they look to me as a people affected by hypnosis heading right to the secret base of a mass murderer.

一瞬は、自分の入学式のもう忘れかけた記憶に満たされたが、現在の状況を考えるとお祝いすることは出来ない。それより、この人達が催眠術に罹って大量殺人犯の隠れ家にまっすぐ向かっているように見えてきた。

Our town is one of the few towns in Japan that the number of residents is gradually increasing. There should be more than a hundred new pupils. The number of parents is the double of it. Nobody knows if one of the parents is working at a night-club, medical staff, careworker, policeman, caretaker, etc. the possible nucleus of spread in the area now or the one just came back from a foreign country.

この街は住民数が段々増えている日本でも数少ない街の一つだ。  新入生は100人以上要るはずだ。両親の数はその倍。両親の中に、ナイトクラブで働く人、医療関係者、介護士、警察官、等今この地区で拡散の核となる可能性のある人、海外から帰ったばかりの人がいないとは言えないだろう。

I think if our Mayer cannot stop this, I think, at least scholars investigating the way the Corona spreads include this condition into their study for the next time if there is.

市長がこれを停止できないなら、少なくともコロナの拡散を研究している学者はこの項目も研究に含めたら次の機会に役立つのではないかと思う。

On the way considering this, I walked by junior high school. It seemed that the spring break was over and the spring term has started. Students could be seen in classrooms wearing masks. Like Luke Skywalker challenging hideous Palpatine without the force or his lightsaber.

そんなことを考えながらの帰り道、中学の傍を通った。春休みは終わり新学期が始まったようだ。生徒がマスクを掛けて教室にいるのが見える。巨大な恐ろしいパルパティーンにフォースもライトセーバーもなく立ち向かうルーク・スカイウォーカーのようだ。

飲みにもいけないので、これやってます。

4/5 amazon primeでvideoを見まくっている。

はじめは主に映画を沢山見た。最近見たものではHeatとかLuckyなんか良かった。面白いのはよいが、結構当たり外れがある。最近当たりにぶつかる確率が低い。視聴者の評価が高くても個人の趣味だから意外と外れる。我慢していると途中からすごく面白くなることもあるから、いつ諦めるかが難しい。

そこへいくと、TVドラマは意外と当たりが多い。多分、一話の時間が短いからテンポが良くなっていて、気の短い私に合うのだとおもう。
TVドラマで最初に見たのがWest World。2シーズン見た。良かった。
その後久しぶりにGame of Thonesも数回見てみたが、あまりのエグさと不要と思われる多数の性的描写に辟易して止めた。
そういえば、何時だったかJack Ryanも1シーズン見たな。
24はRedemptionというmovieを見て、その続きのドラマに結構熱中したが、止められなくなるのでその1シーズン見て中断した。（笑）
その後Elementaryのシーズン1。これは良かったね。毎回ほぼ完結だし、天才探偵の設定も面白い。いずれ続きを見たいと思っている。
Electric Dreamsは1話だけ見た。毎回完結はよかったのだが、今一熱中しなかった。
その次にTread Stone。Jason Bourneのファンだから、それに発想を得てという触れ込みに惹かれて1シーズン見た。何とそのendingが完結しないどころか、話のど真ん中で次のシーズンに続いてしまった。悔しいが、公開されるまで待つしか無い・・・。

今はこれだ。Grimm。見ていて思うことは、ドラマに出る主役の警官、刑事は革ジャン来ていることが多い。この写真中央の彼はそれも毎回来ている革ジャンが違う。一体何枚持ってるのだろうと思う。右端の相棒はいつも同じmilitary jacketなのにね。

セルフカットって奴やってみた

4/4 2月頃からコロナがかなりヤバいと感じ始め、髪が伸びすぎてきたが床屋は危なそうで行けなかった。この機会にロン毛にしてしまおうかとも思ったが、その勇気もない。丸坊主の勇気もない・・・。

では自分で散髪するかと思い始めると、物欲もやれやれと応援する。amzon、楽天、メーカーのサイト、何日も色々と調べて買ったのがこれだ。私の性癖としては舶来品を書いたかったのだが、midium位にはしたかったので、長い髪のアタッチメントもついているのがよかったのだ。また、防水だから安心して風呂で使えるのも良い。
 
買っては見たが、中々実行する勇気が出ない。そんな時、義父が危篤となった。縁起でもないが、失敗した髪ではご不幸にも立ち会いにくいと考えていたら、亡くなってしまった。一度病が重くなるとあっという間だ。亡くなる数日前にお見舞いに行き、酸素供給の機械をつけて楽になったと喜んでいたのに。 

義父の葬儀の翌日、もうフォーマルもしばらく無いだろうと、カットする決心をした。初めてのことだから、一番長いアタッチメントで全体を長めに切って、裾をスキ刈りしただけだが、家族にも意外と好評。その後数日に渡りし数年前から使い始めた片刃のかみそりで、長すぎる部分をつまんでカットしたが、それだけで済んだ。流石パナソニック。
  話は逸れるが、このカミソリは勿論髭を剃るために買ったのだ。使ってみるまでは怪我が少し怖かったのだが、プロガード(安全替刃)というのがある。刃と垂直方向に凸が沢山ついている。刃の横滑りを防ぐのだろう、多分。
  これを使うと、剃り味は最新式のT字のカミソリなんかよりずっとスムーズ。まるで床屋で剃られているような感じ。それに私くらいの初心者でも今まで一度も怪我をしていない。 喉のところに当てる時に少々緊張する位だ。フェザーなんてと思っていたのだが、見直した。

話は髪に戻って、 それからまた一月が経ち、3月下旬。また刈りたくなった。今度はウルフってやつにしてみようと。サイドや後ろはあまり切らずに上の方だけ短かめにしてみた。これもまた大した失敗なく出来上がった。上の方の髪が浮くからベタッとしにくい。
簡単である。次回はトップをもっと短くしてみよう。

最近は超安い床屋に行っていたから、大した額ではないが、その額で計算しても半年もしないで元が取れる。コロナでいいこともあったということか・・・。

最後に、このトリマーの唯一の残念な所は充電機能。途中で止まると悲惨だからきちんと充電して初めないといけない。充電に8時間かかるだけでなく、いつ充電が終わったかが表示されない。したがって、自分で時間を測って、もういいかなとするわけである。まあなんとかはなる。朝起きて充電初めて夕方に使えばよいのだ。

冷や汗 cold sweat

いつものようにアップデートの通知が来た。詳しく見ると、OSXのセキュリティアップデートである。私のMacのOSはHigh Sierraだ。全ユーザーに推奨されている。ということで、いつものようにリスタート・アップデートすることにした。だいぶ時間が経って、画面がリスタートの最後でフリーズしていることに気づいた。まずい・・・。これをずっと恐れてきたがその時まで起きなかったのだ。画面にはあのりんごのシンボルとローディングが終了していることを示すプログレスバーが出ている。もう暫く待ったが何も変わらない。
As usual, an update notice came. Looking into detail, I saw it is for OSX security update. The OS of my Mac is High Sierra. It is recommended for all users. So, as usual, I agreed to restart and update. A long time has passed before I noticed the screen froze at the end of the restart. Oh crap. I had been afraid of this and had never happened until then. The screen shows the apple symbol and the progress bar showing loading was over. I waited some time more, but nothing changed.

強制システム終了とリスタートを何度か試した。結果は、ローディングの最後の部分を始めるだけでそれ以上進まない。ううむ、新たしいマシンの買い時か?私が焦っているのを見て、妻も早く買わないからよと責める。
I tried forced shutdown and restart several times. The result was it restarted the last little part of loading and did not go forward. Mmmm, time to buy a new one? Seeing I was irritated, my wife blamed me I should have renewed the Mac.

もう買い換えるとしても、このMacがちゃんと動いたほうが良いだろう。スマホでネット検索を始め沢山のヒットが合った。大勢が経験しているようだ。
Even if I decided to replace the one, it would be better that the Mac would work properly. I searched the internet using my smartphone. There were a lot of hits. Many people had experienced this.

一番見込みがありそうだったのは、コマンド-r、コマンド-シフト-r、あるいはコマンド-オプション-rを押しながら再起動というもの。復旧ソフトが立ち上がるらしい。一番単純なコマンド-rを試した。リスタートは最初から始まったが結果は同じ様だった。どれをやったあとか覚えていないが、見慣れた画面が出た後偶然暫く待った時、OSXユーティリティのウインドウが画面に現れた。この方法の信頼性を疑いかけていたが、もうすこし待つべきだっただけのようだ。「OSXを再インストール」を選択したが無駄であった。画面は「再インストールサーバー」だか何かに接続できませんでしたと言う。「タイムマシンバックアップから復元」を試した。マックは長時間バックアップデータを探しているだけであった。
The most promising one was to restart with command-r, command-shift-r, or command-option-r. It looked like a recovery software would start by this. I tried the simplest one command-r. Restart began from the start but the result seemed the same. So, I continued trying the others. I don't remember after which one but when I waited several seconds after the familiar sight with no reason, there appeared OSX utility window on the screen. I was almost started the credibility of the process, but it was just I should have waited enough. I chose "Reinstall OSX" in vain. The screen told me it could not connect to a "reinstall sever" or whatever. I tried "recovery from the Time machine backup". The mac was trying to find the backup data for a long time without success.

その時思いついたのは、再インストールサーバーもタイムマシンデータもWifiの向う側にあるということだ。接続されているのだろうか? 画面のシンボルはグレー、繋がっていないということだ。また「再インストールサーバーに接続できない」と検索。単にWifiに繋いだという記事を見つけた。メニューバーのグレーのシンボルは信用できそうにもなかったが、半信半疑でクリックすると、Wifiネットワークのリストが表示された。うちのも含めて。
Then the thing occurred to me was both the reinstall server and the time machine data are over WiFi network. I wondered if my machine was connected. The WiFi symbol on the screen was gray meaning "No". So I searched again "cannot connect to reinstall server". There was a hit saying a man just reconnected a Wifi. The gray Wifi symbol on the menu bar was not promising, but I tried half-hearted click. It showed a list of Wifi network including one of my home.

素晴らしい、Wifiを繋ぎ、「OSXを再インストール」を再度試した。今回は処理が始まり、長〜い時間のダウンロード、インストールの後うまくリスタートした。
Great, I connected the Wifi, and tried   "Reinstall OSX" again. This time it started the process, and successfully restarted after a long time of download and install.

嬉しいことに何も壊れていなかった。唯、アップデートを再インストールしなければならなかっただけ。今回は何事もなかったように終了した。
I was happy to find there was no damage at all except I had to reinstall the update again. This time it was over as nothing happened.

Raspberry Pi SDカードコピー等

前回複数のSDカードを読み取れるドライブを買う前まで書いた。


これが、届いて、まずはMacで試した。当然動きましたね。
ということで、RasPiに取り付けて試したが、これも難なく動いた。
GUIのみでファイルのコピーもできたのでキーボードを持って行かなくても使える。(>ω<)
Back Up用としてSDカード入手しないとな。
先日Western Digitalのサイトを見ていたら、SDカード読み取りのできるSSDが米国では発売されているよう。なぜか日本ではない・・・。 並行輸入品はやたらと高い・・・。

久しぶりに動かしたので、OS等のUPdateしました。display関係がどうかなってしまうかと思いましたが、一応大丈夫のようです。Updateの仕方を一応メモ。

Update

You'll need to type a command into a terminal window once you have logged into your Pi.

1. Open a terminal window by clicking on Main Menu, Accessories, and Terminal. Alternatively, you can click on the terminal icon in the taskbar.
   
   
2. Next, type the following:
   

   sudo apt-get update

3. Press Enter on the keyboard.
   You will see some text appear very quickly. Simply wait for the progress indicator at the bottom to reach 100% and then you'll be returned to the command line prompt.
   

Upgrade

Once the update process is complete, and any information about new versions of applications is downloaded, you'll need to install the upgrades.

1. In a terminal window, type:
   

   sudo apt-get upgrade

2. Press Y or Enter on the keyboard when prompted and your upgrades will be installed.

Checking space on an SD card

When running sudo apt-get upgrade, it will show how much data will be downloaded and how much space it will take up on the SD card. It's worth checking with df -h to ensure that you have enough disk space free, as unfortunately apt will not do this for you. Also be aware that downloaded package files (.deb files) are kept in /var/cache/apt/archives. You can remove these with sudo apt-get clean in order to free up space.

Raspberry PiにLCD追加

海外旅行を目の前にして(結果的には旅行は中止になったのだが)、いつも主にバックアップのためだけにPCを持っていっていくことについて苦々しく思っていた。
日本ではSDから直接バックアップを取れるDiskが売られていないので、RasPiでできるじゃないかと自分で作ることにした。但し、SDからSDのコピーである。

今回したことは、LCDを購入してドライバーをインストールすること。タッチスクリーンにすると、うまくいけばmouse、keyboardなしで使えるかも。

使った部品は
Raspberry Pi 2 B+ (以前買ったもの)
Quimat 3.5インチタッチスクリーンディスプレイ (Amazonで購入)

テレビ(ディスプレイとして使用。うちにあるもの)
HDMIケーブル (以前買ったもの)
USBキーボード (iMacから借用)
USBマウス (以前windows PCで使っていたもの)
DC電源 (スマホの付属品)

はじめは、RaspbianはそのままでQuimatから来たDVDに従いインストールした。bootは始まるのだが、暗い画面で終了してしまう。これで1日終了。
翌日、(1)ではDVDを使わなかったと書いてあったので、(2)に従い、(3)からOS再インストール。

(4)・(5)でwifiに繋ぎ、(2)でLCDドライバー(LCD-show)インストール。rebootするがno signal。電源 on-offするもno-signal。ここで溜息ついてまた終了。
3日目。ふと思いついて、HDMIのTVを外しLCDに繋ぎ変えて再起動。一応動いた。しかし、画面がちらつく。解像度をみても間違いない。またrebootする。おお、今度はうまくいった。


まだ複数SDをつなぐ装置(下図の予定)を入手していないが、それは次回で。

吊りバンド Suspenders

ウエストがガバガバのズボンが沢山ある。まだ太っていた頃に考えもなしに買い溜めたツケだ。 ベルトで締めようとしても、ウエストが酷くシワシワになってみっともないし、十分締まらない。 サスペンダーを買った。最後に使ってから多分50年以上ぶりだろう。

I have many pants with very loose abound waist. It is a consequence of my having bought many without considering much before I started to reduce my weight. If I try to tighten a belt, the waistline gets uglily wrinkled and at the same time not being able to tighten enough. I bought a suspenders. It has been perhaps more than fifty years since I used one of these last.

Amazonをしばらく散策すると、上は英国製の1万円以上、下は千円以下とバラエティに富んでいる。

それぞれの違いは、

(1)全体の形: Y型、H型、ガンホルスター型
(2)ベルトの幅: 20mm〜35mm

After I browsed Amazon for a while, I found I have a variety of choise of price from over ¥10,000 to less than ¥1,000.
The difference among them are in;

(1)The whole shape: Y, H, gun holster;

(4)The material of the metal parts: Steel, Brass, PC;
(5)The material of the connecting devices: Synthetic leather, Genuine leather;

エゲレス製有名ブランドを買えば間違いなさそうだが、それも面白くない。カスタマーレビューは、例によって自分勝手なものも多く、多くは当てにならない。あいまいなままで決心する必要がある。
形式張った服用を買う前にダメ元でGパン用に安いのを１つ買ってみることにした。したがって、ブランドは度外視。
幅は広いほうが肩の負担やゴムの耐久性にもよかろう。クリップは多いほうが外れにくそうで今はY型と言われる形がポピュラーらしいので、6個だな。金属はポリカは割れるという評判と、そのクリップの形式がそもそも問題という評判もあり、真鍮がbetterだが、安物の選択肢少なく、鉄で手を打った。接続具は写真上仕上げの悪そうな革より、正直な合皮で。

It would be safe to choose one of the famous English brands, but it is not interesting. The customer reviews are as usual often selfish and not dependable. I have to choose one without enough information. 
I decided to buy a cheap one for my jeans before I buy one for the suits. So, I ignored the brand name.
Wider width would be easier for my shoulders and good for the life of the rubber bands. The number of clips would better be more for the secure clip-on and the current trend I found is Y-shape, so I chose six clips. The metal I chose is steel as PC tends to crack and the structure of the clip is problematic according to the reputations, and also there are few choices in cheap suspenders with brass. Connecting devices I chose is of synthetic leather. Honest and well finished synthetic leather would be better than poorly finished genuine leather, I thought.

結局選んだのはこれだ。
Finally, this is the one I chose.

カスタマーレビューが1件だけで少々リスキーだったが半日の使用感としては気に入っている。妻にも¥5,000位かとおだてられた。

It was risky as the customer review for this one was only one, but I like this after a half day of use. My wife flattered me by saying they look like costing ¥5,000.
