Cannot get away from Molokini モロキニは欠かせない

私はスキューバダイビングというものを体験したのは40年以上前のホノルルであった。その時、我々のロン毛イケメンのインストラクターは、私達の質問に答えて、一番好きなダイビングスポットはマウイ島だと言った。それ以来、私はマウイ島でダイビングがしたいと思っていた。時は過ぎて、年をとり、スキューバは諦めて、スノーケリングで自分を満足させるようなってもその思いは変わらなかった。2006年にマウイ島に行った時には２泊の滞在の間に何箇所かで泳ぎ、キレイな海を楽しんだ。しかし、その時は時間十分ではなく、あちらに着いてから知ったマウイ島の中でも良いダイビングスポットのモロキニ島に行く時間はなかった。

今年またマウイに行く計画をした時は、モロキニ島ツアーを入れるのを忘れなかった。その成果は素晴らしい物でした。

I expedience scuba diving for the first time at Honolulu more than forty years ago.  At that time our long hair handsome instructor told us that his favorite place to dive is Maui island answering our question. I had been longing to dive in Maui since then.  Time had passed, I aged, gave up scuba diving and had myself satisfied with snorkeling, but my longing to Maui had not changed. The first time I visited Maui in 2006, I swam at several bays during my two nights stay, and enjoyed beautiful ocean.  However, I had not enough time to visit Molokini island that I found the good diving spot in Maui.  

This year I did not forget to include a tour to Molokini island. The outcome was super wonderful.

何故なら、これはマウイでもカマオレ海浜公園II近くの写真、まあまあかな。

Because, swimming at Kamaole Beach Park II is well OK.

しかし、モロキニ島はぜんぜん違うのだ・・・
But, Molokini island is soooo different...

10,000フィートのサンセット Sunset at 10,000ft

私の妻は気圧の低いのが苦手だ。低気圧が来ただけで気分が悪くなる。だから、どの位高いところに行くのかは言わなかった。マウイ島到着二日目に私達はハレアカラ国立公園プウウアウラ山頂観測所にドライブした。
往路では山頂を覆う雲が見え、途中のドライブは土砂降りであった。でも、頂上は高いので雲を突き抜けて山頂の空はビューティフル。

My wife does not like low pressure.  She feels sick even just when cyclone comes. So, I did not tell her how high we would go.  On the second day while in Maui Island, we drove to the top of Haleakala National Park Pu'u'ula'ula (Red Hill) Summit Observation and Exhibition Bldg.
On the way, we could see the cloud covered the mountain, and the drive was through pouring rain.  But, since it is high enough, we went through the cloud and the sky was beautiful.

展示コーナーには、高度が10,000ft以上あることが書いてあった。妻はやっと高さを理解し、そんな低気圧でも何とかなることを知った。

There was a panel telling that the altitude is more than 10,000 ft.  She knew it, and knew she could live in such low pressure.

この高度だと、植物は少なく、主なものは私の好きなアガベだ。
At this altitude, plants are scarce, and the dominant is Agave, my favorites.

なるほどスターウォーズの撮影に最適だな。

6時間の旅の価値はあったな。
It was worth six hours trip.

After tens of years. 何十年ぶりだろうか

It has been tens of years since my last time to visit the Higashiyama botanical garden. It is a huge area including outdoor gardens and a conservatory located next to the Higashiyama zoo. They are managed by Nagoya City.
Many things has changed since the last time. First thing I was surprised was the parking is not free, but 800 yen/day.  More expensive than the entrance fee of 500 yen.  Oh...
何十年ぶりだろうか、東山植物園を訪れた。東山植物園は屋外の庭園と温室からなる植物園で東山動物園に隣接している。双方とも名古屋市が管理している。
自然に行った時から色々なことが変わっていた。第一番に驚いたのは駐車場が無料ではなく、800円であること。入場料の500円よりも高い・・・

折も折、イベント会場では「苔玉と自然造形展」が。
瀬戸の何とかいう窯で作られた鉢が中々面白い。
Coincidentally, in the event house there held the exhibition of "Moss balls and Natural Crafts". The pots crafted at a pottery in Seto sity are elegant.

   

坂の上には新しいビルディングが見える。これについては後で書く。
Looking up the hill, I saw a new building.  I will write what it is.

散歩を始めて間もなく、フタリシズカを見つけた。多分花の終わった後だと思う。
Right after I started walking inside the gardens, this is a Futarishizuka or  Chloranthus serratus.  Flower had been over, I guess.

Sometimes it is like a wild forest.

It was very hot day for May, this is a good place for visitors to take rests.
この日は5月にしては非常に暑い日で、ここはお客さんの休憩所にちょうどいい。


Today I'd like to feature these flowers that were hiding their leaves.
さて、今日の主役はこれ。葉っぱの影に隠れていた。

Hiding...
隠れている。

But, if you move the leaves, it comes out.
しかし、葉を退けると現れますねぇ。

It is called Musashiabumi according to the name post.  A kind of cobra lilies.
武蔵鐙と呼ばれる植物のようだ。

See?  It is really hard to discover.
ほらね。見つけにくい。

Some statues made with chain saws were displayed too.
チェーンソー製の彫刻も飾られている。

Now, coming back to the entrance, this building is a restaurant.  It looks really nice and hope I can come back here someday.
さあ、入り口に戻ってきて、このビルはレストランであった。素敵な感じだからいつかまた来たいと思った。

In the conservatory, rare orchids were blooming.
最後に入った温室では珍しい蘭が色々。
