常滑散策 I went to Tokoname, an old city of pottery.

訳あって、澤田酒造さん(白老)の試飲会に潜り込むことができることになったので(その話は別途)ので、折角だからと夫婦で常滑を散策した。

By a reason, we were able to join a tasting party of Sawada sake brewery whose brand is "Hakuro", The White Old.  The story about this will be written later.  Taking the opportunity, we sightsaw Tokoname, an old city of pottery.

駅から陶磁器会館に向かう道、土留めの壁にたくさん何かが並んでいる。

近づいてみると、常滑招き猫通りとのこと。色々な祈願にちなんだ招き猫が飾られている。

Walking from the Tokoname station to the Tokoname ceramic center, we saw something are displayed on the walls on the other side of the road.  We found out they are "Wellcome cats", or "Lucky cats" praying for many kinds of lucks when we got closer.

カバン持ってモンペみたいなのを履いて、

Carrying a bag and wearing a pair of loose pants, this cat is praying for a safe travel.

こんな鯛が頂ければ「満足」だろう。

禁酒・・・
Quit drinking...

最近は、これが怖いねぇ
Recently, this is terrifying.  Quake safety.

中部国際空港のお膝元だけあって、
Tokoname has the Central Japan international airport.  The cat prays for air safety.

可愛い顔してる
Cute!  Fine child raising.

千手猫
Your wish will come true.

いいことあるよ
Good luck will come.

札が取れちゃてるので、意味不明だが、綺麗
Since the label had been gone, what this is for was unclear.  But, the color is beautiful.

これじゃ、これ

陶磁器会館はさておき、まずはランチ。
すぐそばのni:no (ニーノ)で。
古い家を改装した様子がありありと。中々渋い。
Before visiting the Tokoname ceramic, we had lunch at the near-by cafe "ni:no".  The cafe utilizes old house, and interior looks shibui.

三種類のランチから選ぶと。
前菜とサラダが来た。高野豆腐のブラックオリーブ載せ、等々。(前菜はこの倍あったのだが、食べかけてしまったので。)
えっ、1,080円なのに・・・
 We chose two kinds of lunch course from three choices.  These are Hors-d'œuvre and salad.  Dried tofu with olive, etc.  Well, for your information Hors-d'œuvre were half eaten.

メインのサーモン(ブラウンソース)とチキン(トマトソース)。主食は、雑穀ご飯とパンから選択。美味かったよ。
Main dishes we chose were salmon and vegetables with brown sauce, and chicken  and mushrooms with tomato sauce.  Sides were bread and mixed grain rice.  Delicious!

お得用のコーヒーを食後につけて。満足、満足。
We asked coffees after lunch.  Very much satisfied.

古い焼き物の町ですから、あちこちに煙突の見える風景。
Tokoname is a old pottery city, so you can find sceneries with old chimneys for ovens here and there.

街角に時々芸術家さんの作品が並べられている。これは何だろう。
The works of artists are displayed here and there.  I wonder what this is.

陶器屋さんの入り口も結構絵になるよ。
Entrances of pottery shops are good subjects of pictures.

またまた、煙突のある風景。
Another chimney scene.

登り下りが多く、結構疲れる。
Roads are going up and down.  They tired us.
